SAP Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - SAP Ariba Business Commerce Cloud in Bangalore, India

Summary

Site Reliability engineering team at SAP Ariba is a strong, highly technical team, whose responsibilities span from troubleshooting mission critical services to writing automation software.The primary responsibility of the Site Reliability Engineering Team is to monitor, manage and provide 24 x 7 operational support for SAP Ariba's Business Commerce Cloud.The team is also responsible for performing software installation, configuration changes, develop automation scripts for monitoring and day-to-day operation.

A successful candidate will have strong knowledge of Unix systems management and networking; good scripting and coding skills; be able to quickly assess and resolve site incidents in a fast paced environment; possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact effectively with engineering and other operations teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively monitor availability and performance of the SAP Ariba Cloud using key tools effectively and quickly respond to Monitoring alerts, incident tickets, and email requests coming in to Site Reliability

  • Perform application and web site troubleshooting to quickly resolve the issues

  • Escalate issues as needed to Product Engineering teams

  • Handling communication and notification on major site issues to the company and executive management team

  • Document resolution run books and standard operating procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Computers or other equivalent field

  • 5-7years of professional experience as SRE or DevOps.

  • Good understanding of Unix systems fundamentals and system management tasks with experience in working with Unix environment

  • Strong understanding of network concepts, TCP/IP stack and common Internet protocols

  • Good programming skills (Shell Scripting/Perl/Python)

  • Must have an experience on Monitoring tools. Splunk and Dynatrace is preferable.

  • Strong grasp of Cloud Computing SaaS, PaaS, IaaS fundamentals and experience designing and implementing solutions

  • Experience managing container-based services in production using tools such as Docker, K8s

  • Working experience of using DevOps tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins or other CI/CD Tools, Git etc

  • Attention to detail and accuracy and ability to spot long term trends in production web environment

  • Outstanding interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills

  • Must be reliable and dependable with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Effective team player to be able to work closely with peers and other operations or engineering teams

  • Desired - Skills Experience working in a 24 x 7, large-scale Internet web environment

  • Prior experience working with Java/J2EE applications
