PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

This internship at SAP Products & Innovations will allow you to participate in the professional development of business software, learn from an experienced team, and make your own contribution to the delivery of intelligent solutions for our customers.

As an intern/thesis student, you will join our development team based here in Tägerwilen (Lake Constance, CH). We are currently developing a new replenishment solution for retail customers. We are using the Scrum methodology and follow best practices for agile software development.

In your role, you will work with our research team to evaluate our solution concepts for considering costs and business constraints of ordering in a retail scenario. Depending on your field of study and formal requirements, the project may be a suitable topic for a master/bachelor thesis.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

  • Understand the underlying business problems

  • Contribute to the refinement of proposed concepts

  • Develop prototypes for the concepts

  • Evaluation with customer data

  • Presentation of the findings

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Student at a university or university of applied sciences

  • Preferred field(s) of study: Mathematics or Computer Science with a focus on Operations Research

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Linear Programming

  • Practical experience of modeling for LP

  • Advanced programming skills: Python, R

  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

Preferred Skills

  • Basic statistical knowledge

  • SQL programming skills to create database queries

  • German, mainly spoken

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Having worked as member of a team as well as independently
