The Global Procurement Organization (GPO) is in the midst of the GPO 2020 Transformation Program that will change the dynamic of how GPO engages with its customers. This transformation is necessary to keep up with the fast Cloud environment, meet the Board’s ambitious growth plans, and support SAP’s strategy.

ABOUT the GPO Category

The Category Consumer Goods is responsible for the definition and execution of Software sourcing strategies in close collaboration with business owners (Line of Business), Global Legal, Global Controlling and for sourcing and supplier management for 120 countries across the globe. The category is split into three sub-categories, which consists of Client equipment, telecommunication and Software,


  • Support Supplier and Stakeholder Management Understand and willingness to become fluent with Cloud, infrastructure, client and development software requirements of key-stakeholders from a commercial and technical perspective

  • Analyze and seek opportunities for improvement

  • Collaborate with the wider sourcing team to implement and support sourcing strategies that ensure best value for SAP

  • Negotiate and resolve disputes with suppliers

  • Pro-actively support market analysis / market screening benchmarking, track market trends and manage supplier performance

  • Understand supplier capability assessments

  • Manage supplier portfolios and undertake supplier negotiations through relationship-building to maximize business benefits

  • Identify opportunities for increased competitive bidding, smarter supplier relationships and more efficient procurement processes

  • Support the development and execution of RFX’s, manage requirements including pricing negotiations

  • Negotiate agreements (e.g. in the area of internal use software / SaaS / right to use etc.) with software and SaaS suppliers and work with SAP requesters to ensure appropriate contract approvals are obtained and documented

  • Drives all procurement related activities around internal use software licensing in a self-driven and independent way with a strong quality and customer focus

  • Support other areas of the sourcing team including projects as needed

  • Ensure compliance to the SAP Global Purchasing Policy


  • University degree preferably in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field

  • Understanding of end to end procurement and sourcing strategies and how to execute a global strategy

  • Strong customer focus, presentation skills and business acumen

  • Developed collaboration skills

  • Open-minded and willing to drive change

  • Initiate simplicity and challenge complexity

  • Knowledge of purchasing systems (e.g. Ariba), MS office applications and purchasing processes

  • Fluent German and English (spoken, written), other languages are welcome

  • Ability to work in international teams and virtual environment


  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in strategic and or tactical procurement within indirect procurement environments, ideally in a multinational environment

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and to crystalize business requirements and to translate them into actionable procurement activity

  • Ability to apply purchasing knowledge to execute sourcing projects

  • Ability to leverage fluency and experience with software terms and conditions

  • Proven experience leading successful execution and delivery of strategy

  • Global experience preferred

  • Ability to establish clear priorities and effectively manage multiple demand and time resources
